Immunisation & Vaccines

Flu Vaccine

Due to lower than normal levels of natural immunity, the almost complete removal of COVID and travel restrictions, and lower than normal natural immunity levels, health experts predict that this flu season may be worse than usual.

If you visit the clinic for any other purpose, you might be able to get the flu shot during that visit, but this is dependent on time, so you might have to come back another day. At the beginning of the consultation, ask your doctor.

Patients who qualify for a free (government-funded) flu vaccine are listed below. A private flu shot generally costs $22 for all other Medicare recipients.

In 2023, government funded flu vaccines will be available for free for:

  • all children aged six months to four years (ie. including four year olds, but not five year olds);
  • all adults aged 65 years and over;
  • all people aged from six months with medical conditions putting them at increased risk of severe flu and its complications (for example, severe asthma, lung or heart disease, low immunity or diabetes);
  • pregnant women (during any stage of pregnancy); and
  • all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged from six months.
  • People aged 65 and over

If you are not eligible for a government funded vaccine, private vaccine are available for purchase at the pharmacy which we will provide the script and administration of the vaccine all of which will be bulk billed.

Child Immunisations

Our Practice Nurses and Doctors are highly experienced in administering child vaccinations, including vaccines on the Queensland Immunisation Schedule (starting from 6 weeks of age), catch-up vaccines, annual flu vaccines and travel vaccines. Their aim is to make you and your child feel as comfortable as possible.

For individuals with a current Medicare card, childhood vaccinations are bulk billed, and the National Immunisation Programme (NIP) covers the cost of the majority of vaccinations.

Some optional vaccines (such the Bexsero/Meningococcal B vaccine and travel vaccines) must be purchased from us or a pharmacy, in which we will supply the prescription for you.

You may now schedule a child immunisation appointment online or by calling us at 07 5641 1527.

Our doctors are accessible Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. Outside of these hours, there are no appointments available for child immunisations.

To book call our reception on (07) 5641 1527 or book online.
